AMCAMP is one of the most useful tools for simply viewing and working with USB webcams. AMCAP is completely free and it has a bunch of cool features you might find useful. Personally my favorite feature is the built in UVC control for Pan Tilt and Zoom. This software has become the cornerstone for our testing and we wanted to share a little bit about how we use AMCAP. This is a free Windows application and to the best of our knowledge there is no Mac or Linux versions.
As you can see from the picture above the “Video Capture Filter” this is where you can select your USB camera and set the technical stuff like resolution and frame rate. The “Video Capture Pin” is where you can check to see if you camera has UVC control capabilities. If your camera has the capability to be controlled via UVC then the slider bars for control will be active. You may find your camera can control certain aspects of operation but not all. For example you may be able to control the focus but not the pan tilt or zoom.
With AMCap you can undoubtedly record feature to your hard commute, either in MPEG2 or AVI configuration, if you have the important codecs. It includes some other intriguing choices, for example, the capacity to take screenshots or adding embellishments to the picture (realistic overlay, alpha-mixing, straightforwardness, and so forth.).
